GetElementType Method (_VarType)

OpcLabs.BaseLib Assembly > OpcLabs.BaseLib.ComInterop.ComTypes Namespace > _VarType Interface : GetElementType Method
Returns the OpcLabs.BaseLib.ComInterop.VarType of the elements encompassed by the current array.
Syntax
'Declaration

<CanBeNullAttribute()>
Function GetElementType() As VarType
'Usage

Dim instance As _VarType
Dim value As VarType

value = instance.GetElementType()
[CanBeNull()]
VarType GetElementType()
[CanBeNull()]
VarType^ GetElementType();

Return Value

The OpcLabs.BaseLib.ComInterop.VarType of the elements encompassed by the current array, or null if the current OpcLabs.BaseLib.ComInterop.VarType is not an array.

Because there is an implicit conversion from OpcLabs.BaseLib.ComInterop.VarType to System.Int32 and OpcLabs.BaseLib.ComInterop.VarTypes, in languages that support implicit conversion operators (such as C# or VB.NET), you can simply use the return value in place of an integer (System.Int32) (representing the numerical value of the COM VARTYPE), or in place a OpcLabs.BaseLib.ComInterop.VarTypes enumeration value. When the implicit conversion operators are not supported (such as with Python.NET), you can use the ToInt32 or ToVarTypes static method instead.

This method can return null (Nothing in Visual Basic).
