ExceptionDescription

This is a usage error, i.e. it will never occur (the exception will not be thrown) in a correctly written program. Your code should not catch this exception.

A null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic) is passed to a method that does not accept it as a valid argument.

Remarks

This method is similar in purpose to System.IO.FileInfo.Replace(System.String,System.String), but is generalized for any kind of writable file info, not just files in the physical file system.

The Replace(IWritableFileInfo,String,String) method replaces the contents of a specified file with the contents of the file described by the current IWritableFileInfo object. It also optionally creates a backup of the file that was replaced.

Pass null to the destinationBackupFilePathAndName parameter if you do not want to create a backup of the file being replaced.

For Microsoft.Extensions.FileProviders.IFileInfo, IFileInfo2 and IWritableFileInfo, relative paths are based on the directory where the file is located; absolute paths are based on the root directory of the file provider.
