UAEndpointDescriptor Constructor(String)

OpcLabs.EasyOpcUA Assembly > OpcLabs.EasyOpc.UA Namespace > UAEndpointDescriptor Class > UAEndpointDescriptor Constructor : UAEndpointDescriptor Constructor(String)
The network address that the Client wishes to use to access the Server (a URL string of the resource).

The value represents an OPC UA endpoint descriptor string. Any string can be passed to this parameter (i.e. will not cause System.ArgumentException), but not all values make sense and will work when an operation using them is attempted. The OPC UA endpoint descriptor string is typically the URL of the server endpoint.

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

Initializes a new instance, specifying the descriptor string.

Parameters

descriptorString
The network address that the Client wishes to use to access the Server (a URL string of the resource).

The value represents an OPC UA endpoint descriptor string. Any string can be passed to this parameter (i.e. will not cause System.ArgumentException), but not all values make sense and will work when an operation using them is attempted. The OPC UA endpoint descriptor string is typically the URL of the server endpoint.

The value of this parameter cannot be null (Nothing in Visual Basic).

Exceptions
ExceptionDescription

A null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic) is passed to a method that does not accept it as a valid argument.

This is a usage error, i.e. it will never occur (the exception will not be thrown) in a correctly written program. Your code should not catch this exception.

Remarks

A generic string is used instead of System.Uri, because in some cases, the value may not represent a real URI.

In languages that support implicit conversions (such as C# or VB.NET), in many cases you do not have call this constructor explicitly. When indicated, a call to an available equivalent implicit conversion operator will be created by the compiler automatically.
